CNC woodworking machinery (routers, panel saws, machining centres, carving machines, edge banders) is core equipment for furniture and decorative-panel manufacturing. The environment is severe: heavy dust (wood chips and dust enter transmission parts, accelerating wear and lubricant failure); high speed (rapid 30-60m/min, feed 5-20m/min); long stroke (tables typically 1.2m×2.4m or larger, X/Y travel 1.5-3m); long running (two or three shifts, 16-24 hours/day); and cost sensitivity (competitive market demands good value).

Drive System Solution

For woodworking applications, Shiyi Automation recommends:

Dust-proof linear guides - TRH high-assembly or TR low-assembly with double wipers (end wipers plus bottom wipers) to block chips and fine dust; rust-protected surfaces for humid environments. 15-30mm sizes by load; larger high-rigidity rails on the X crossbeam;
High-speed ball screws - SFAR standard or SFVR heavy-load with large 10-20mm lead for speed, plus dust seals to keep debris out of the nut. C5/C7 accuracy by machine requirement;
Rigid supports - BK fixed side (matched angular-contact bearings) and BF supported side (deep-groove, allows thermal expansion), with dust covers protecting the bearings;
Couplings - jaw couplings (vibration-absorbing, fault-tolerant, good value) or flex-disc couplings (high rigidity, zero backlash) by motor type and accuracy;
Dedicated lubrication - high-temperature, water-resistant grease with scheduled replenishment; optional automatic lubrication systems dosing rails and screws at intervals to reduce manual maintenance.

Dust Protection & Maintenance

Rail dust protection (choose blocks with double wipers; end wipers block large chips, bottom wipers clear fine dust; inspect and clean wipers regularly). Screw protection (dust seals; optionally a telescopic bellows or spiral steel cover for full isolation). Lubrication (halve the interval vs normal environments - every 1-2 months, using high-temperature, water-resistant grease). Periodic checks (every 3 months inspect rail/screw wear, preload looseness and lubrication; replace promptly to prevent escalation).

Typical Application

A Foshan furniture OEM bought 10 CNC panel saws requiring 2.4m X / 1.2m Y / 200mm Z travel, 40m/min rapid, 15m/min feed and 20 hours/day. Their previous-brand guides and screws showed rail wear, screw noise and accuracy loss after 3 months.
